Huawei EMUI 13 = Android 13?

emui 13 Android 13

Huawei is upgrading its global devices with EMUI 12 software update and there are various features that could find intriguing in this new EMUI version. But what about the next EMUI version? Although, Huawei hasn’t said anything about this EMUI software but wants to know whether it’ll come based on Android 13 or doesn’t it have any changes to do so?

EMUI 13:

Last Year, Huawei didn’t feature EMUI 12 at Huawei Developer Conference (HDC) 21. Since Huawei has designed HarmonyOS for Chinese consumers and EMUI remains the sole choice for global users. However, at we have already started to close in for HDC 2022, which could be somewhere around September this year. Still, the dates have not been revealed to the developers.

Similar to last year, Huawei isn’t likely to promote EMUI but there could be three scenarios that could follow the HDC 2022 aftermath.

Switching to HarmonyOS:

This time EMUI 13 could possibly be based HarmonyOS operating system for the global consumers, for which, many consumers are desperately waiting. Still, Huawei has revealed to use of HarmonyOS as a China-exclusive software but who knows what happens next.

Using Android 13:

We aren’t quite sure of Huawei jumping directly on the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) version of Android 13 but there could be a fair chance of upgrading the Android version for new HMS-powered devices.

Continue with Android 10:

If the company wants to please its existing smartphone owners such as the popular Huawei P30 and Mate 20 series, then it would definitely choose to remain with Android 10. However, it’ll quite boring to see that Android version again, since we are now passing through the fourth version of EMUI with the same Android.

Should use?

If Huawei chooses to remain on Android for EMUI and for the global consumers, then it should jump on the new Android 13 for EMUI 13. However, the concerns of Google Mobile Servies (GMS) powered phones and their access remains a big concern for the Chinese tech maker.
