Once Huawei Technology was rumored about manufacturing cars, which customers and industry partners were curious to know about. Later, the Chinese tech giant completely declined this rumor, saying that we are not car manufactures but we help to build good cars for the car manufacturers.
There is no doubt that Huawei owns a large number of patents related to smart cars and autonomous technology. These patent lines include the reducer and powertrain technology, Lidar technology, navigation method for parking, Air Gesture technology, Voice interaction method, and many more.
This is the never-ending saga, which is still exploring. The company is continually developing new technologies, which can help to build a good car that meets today’s customer’s requirements. This is what Huawei is concerned about and helps to sell the good car, as said by Richard Yu, CEO of Consumer and Cloud BG Huawei.
Since Huawei is now on a new journey, it’s time that we explore how this Chinese tech giant is shaping its destiny in the world of cars and autonomous technology. So let us begin.
Working in this line, Eric Xu (Xu Zhijun), the rotating chairman of Huawei confirmed that the company is still standing on the no-car policy and there is no plan to create its own brand, he gave this statement during the 18th HAS. However, the firm is willing to join the automotive industry as a technology provider.
In addition, he revealed that Huawei is working with other manufacturers, in which three are major automotive companies including the BAIC BluePark, Changan Automobile, and Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC). As there are more partners are waiting to join hands?
If you give it a closer look you’ll find that Huawei and BAIC recently launch the first HBT series named ArcFox Alpha S, which is highly appreciated among the users.
Changan Automobile recently stated that starting the 4th Quarter of 2020, Huawei and CATL jointly developing a battery under the CNH project and will use them for future projects.
Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC):
Huawei has already deployed a research and development team, which is about a hundred people, for the new GAC Aian model. It will be a fully electric car for the next generation.
As of the official press conference, GAC revealed, Huawei and GAC jointly developing the L4 self-driving vehicles, which plans to mass-produced around 2024.
Huawei holds the powerful car technology for a new generation of cars and it’ll be a waste of time if you can’t get to see these in person. Well, for the moment, there are two series co-powered by Huawei smart car solutions.
The smart car technology used in these two lineups is developed by Huawei and gives you an enhanced user experience of smart driving. The lineup includes ArcFox Polar Alpha S and Cyrus Huawei Smart Selection SF5.

Huawei thanked former smart driving BU president that once made comment on Tesla
Former President of Huawei Smart Driving Business Solution has resigned from the division. However, Huawei has decided to pay tribute to the leader by saying thanks for contributing to the responsibilities inside the firm.
Sin technology reported that Huawei smart car BU thanked Su Qing for his contribution to the smart driving business unit. Su Qing has been removed from the company for making inappropriate remarks against American EVs maker – Tesla while talking to a show for autonomous driving technology and safety.
Once the matter backfired, Huawei removed Su Qing from the position of the director of the intelligent driving product department of BU intelligent vehicle solutions. Su Qing will go to the strategic reserve team for training and assignments.
Su Qing used an unpleasant word to describe the issues with Tesla vehicles. He said machines from the big names such as Tesla cars are causing accidents in human society and “killing peoples” even in the case of autopiloting.
He added that Huawei is working hard to bring solid technologies to decrease the smart car issues. The company (indicating Huawei) wants to overcome the causes as low as possible that are responsible for increasing the accident rate. Read the full story here.
Goal to sell 300000 cars is not impossible: Huawei
Today, Huawei smart car solution BU’s COO – Wang Jun shared this view on the latest development of smart cars at the 17th Super Car Conference. Wang states that in the near future the smart cars business will be no less than smartphones for many companies.
Wang also believes that the decision-making cycle on the user side of cars is very long, and is also geographically related, including policies. It is a very complex broad industry that can support so many brands that exist.
However, it was also reported that the smartphone field is a track of hundreds of billions of dollars, and the auto parts track is a market size of trillions of dollars. In the recent developments of the SERES Huawei Smart Selection SF5 and AITO M5 (Aotu), which have received wide attention from the outside world, Wang Jun said that Huawei’s auto business is divided into two parts.
From Smart Car BU’s perspective, it’s more than helping car companies build good cars. The role of the consumer business is also a part of Huawei’s smart selection business. The smart selection business is also Huawei’s business model in the automotive sector. The core is to help car companies build good cars. It is original and will not change.
However, Huawei’s car sales will challenge BU CEO Yu Chengdong said Huawei’s smart car sets an annual sales target of 300,000 vehicles. Recently, Wang Jun openly said that nothing is impossible. Additionally, he mentioned the first is to see if the product is sufficient for paying users. The second is to see if the sales channel is strong and enough to sell the car. “If you can do those two things, you can do it,” Wang Jun said.
Huawei does not build cars confirmed Wang Jun (Huawei Smart Car BU COO)
Earlier, Huawei has several times denied that Huawei doesn’t build its own car. However, the Huawei executive previously mentioned that the company’s focus is on spare part technology to help OEMs to produce good cars.
On January 20, at the 17th Super Car Conference of “Intelligent Driving Carbon New” Li Yizhong, former Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and President of the China Federation of Industrial Economics delivered the speech.
During the conference, Wang Jun, Huawei’s smart car solution BU COO again denies that Huawei does not build cars. He also added that our core is to help companies build good cars.
“Otherwise, it would be impossible for me to sit here today and discuss these topics with President Liu Yu.” said Wang Jun
The guests who attend this conference are former Minister of Industry and Information Technology, Kong Lei, Huawei’s Wang Jun, China Automobile Association, BAIC’s Liu Yu, Baidu, and more.
However, Huawei has reached in-depth cooperation with BAIC, Changan, and GAC automobile brands. But, in the future, there will not be too much such cooperation, because this kind of cooperation consumes a lot of Huawei’s resources.
Currently, Huawei still hopes to focus on these car companies that have already cooperated and supported their car manufacturing. Furthermore, Wang Jun believes that Huawei’s entry into the smart vehicle spare parts industry is a huge opportunity for Huawei based on 30 years of accumulated ICT technology.
In addition, Liu Yu, deputy general manager of BAIC Group and president of BAIC Blue Valley, said that some users have already received the Alpha S Huawei HI version, and they are helping this car in testing. However, during the auto show, the new car is expected to be launched in Beijing in April this year.
As per Liu Yu, it is now easier to build a new electric vehicle with a cruising range of 600–700 km, and the charging piles and other ancillary facilities are already very substantial. Quickly enter the blowout period. “If there are no impacts such as chip and battery shortages, sales of new energy vehicles will exceed 6 million units in 2022.”
In April 2022, BAIC pure electric vehicle brand ARCFOX launched the Alpha S, an intelligent luxury pure electric car. The car will also offer a high-end variant of Huawei’s HI variant.
The HI version 3 is equipped with lidar and multiple sensors, which can realize autonomous driving in cities, starting from 429,900 Yuan. Earlier it was announced that it will be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2021.
The Extreme Fox Alpha S is equipped with HarmonyOS smart cockpit that features a 21.69-inch integrated ultra-clear large screen that supports 3840 x 720 resolution and 180PPI display accuracy. The cockpit of the car is equipped with a Kirin 990A chip, which has 3.5TOPs of computing power and supports a 5G network connection and more.
