Once Huawei Technology was rumored about manufacturing cars, which customers and industry partners were curious to know about. Later, the Chinese tech giant completely declined this rumor, saying that we are not car manufactures but we help to build good cars for the car manufacturers.

There is no doubt that Huawei owns a large number of patents related to smart cars and autonomous technology. These patent lines include the reducer and powertrain technology, Lidar technology, navigation method for parking, Air Gesture technology, Voice interaction method, and many more.

This is the never-ending saga, which is still exploring. The company is continually developing new technologies, which can help to build a good car that meets today’s customer’s requirements. This is what Huawei is concerned about and helps to sell the good car, as said by Richard Yu, CEO of Consumer and Cloud BG Huawei.

Since Huawei is now on a new journey, it’s time that we explore how this Chinese tech giant is shaping its destiny in the world of cars and autonomous technology. So let us begin.

Partner collaboration:

Working in this line, Eric Xu (Xu Zhijun), the rotating chairman of Huawei confirmed that the company is still standing on the no-car policy and there is no plan to create its own brand, he gave this statement during the 18th HAS. However, the firm is willing to join the automotive industry as a technology provider.

In addition, he revealed that Huawei is working with other manufacturers, in which three are major automotive companies including the BAIC BluePark, Changan Automobile, and Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC). As there are more partners are waiting to join hands?

BAIC:

If you give it a closer look you’ll find that Huawei and BAIC recently launch the first HBT series named ArcFox Alpha S, which is highly appreciated among the users.

Changan Automobile:

Changan Automobile recently stated that starting the 4th Quarter of 2020, Huawei and CATL jointly developing a battery under the CNH project and will use them for future projects.

Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC):

Huawei has already deployed a research and development team, which is about a hundred people, for the new GAC Aian model. It will be a fully electric car for the next generation.

As of the official press conference, GAC revealed, Huawei and GAC jointly developing the L4 self-driving vehicles, which plans to mass-produced around 2024.

Recent launches:

Huawei holds the powerful car technology for a new generation of cars and it’ll be a waste of time if you can’t get to see these in person. Well, for the moment, there are two series co-powered by Huawei smart car solutions.

The smart car technology used in these two lineups is developed by Huawei and gives you an enhanced user experience of smart driving. The lineup includes ArcFox Polar Alpha S and Cyrus Huawei Smart Selection SF5.

Let’s take a closer look at these series:

ArcFox Polar Alpha S:

The entire lineup contains two models – the regular Alpha S and the HI-supported Alpha S, further divided into the basic version and the high-end version.

The house of Huawei technology includes a fast-charging system, Hongmeng OS (HarmonyOS) based smart cockpit, a Kirin 990A chipset, a powerful Lidar camera system, and the Huawei Autonomous technology.

Cyrus Huawei Smart Selection SF5:

This brand new model features the Huawei DriveONE, HiCar, Stereo sound system, and Dual-Motor Four-Wheel drive, which makes it enable to reach 180 kilometers drive in a single charge.

This fully electric car is launched in order to solve the fule related problems and the consumers are also giving it a huge response with the estimated starting price of 216,800 Yuan (about 33,000 USD).

Furthermore, it’s the first smart car that Huawei is selling through its official online e-commerce website, Vmall in China, and has achieved 3000 orders in just two days after its pre-booking started.

Unsurprisingly, Huawei’s car technology used in the above mentioned models are powerful and more advanced, and enables a better user experience. Shall I take you at more close distance to the technology? okay, let’s go-

Hongmeng OS (HarmonyOS) based smart cockpit:

HarmonyOS is Huawei’s self develop micro-kernel-based operating system, which is designed to deliver a cross-platform user experience across different devices.

Since its second version also supports an in-car system, Huawei has started to push it into smart cars without a delay and started creating an interactive path between the user and the car that leads up to various devices including smartphones, tablets, and wearables.

All of the consumer devices can directly interact with the car’s device and allows the customer to interact freely from any of this medium of operation.

Furthermore, Huawei is also increasing the number of applications for the HarmonyOS in-car software ecosystem. As of now, Huawei’s application number reached double digits in the cockpit system. In the future, the company will add more applications to the system.

In terms of the supportive features, it includes many Huawei exclusive functions. The major terms are written below-

  • Huawei’s smart car solution
  • Powerful camera system
  • Domain controllers
  • Voice interaction
  • Precise control algorithms

Huawei Kirin 990A Chipset:

Huawei’s developed 990A processor supports the 5G network for strong network control. This in-vehicle chipset ensures the minimum high-stream computing power up 3.5 TOPs.

The spontaneous decision determined by the chipset is reliable and helps to process good results.

Huawei DriveONE:

Huawei DiveONE electric drive system is greatly improved for comfortable daily commuting. This three-in-one electric drive system consists of a motor controller, motor, and reducer.

Furthermore, it connects with the rear-drive, to give you high performance with low power consumption.

Huawei HiCar:

It creates the smart interconnection path between the user, vehicle, and homes, so you can be the master control your car using your smartphone.

It easily connects with the car system via wireless connection and replaced the control over your smartphone.

Huawei HiCare

Powerful Lidar system:

Huawei’s Lidar technology is composed of three lidar, six-millimeter wave radars, and nine camera setups, which are trained to observe over a hundred driving conditions.

The camera system said to works the same as the human eye to provide better and smart viewing angles.

Huawei ADS:

Huawei Autonomous Driving Support featured three-level of ADS supports including the NCA mode, ICA+ mode, and ICA mode.

Talking about the NCA mode autopilot driving determines point-to-point automatic driving through the preinstalled map in the car.

As far as the operation is concerned, it’s as easy as entering the destination. You just have to enter the location and activate the cruise lever under the steering wheel. And You will see the destination ahead of you.

Fast charging technology:

The technology packs the smart temperature-controlled lithium-ion battery, which is good enough to provide you a long drive.

It takes about 1.5 hours using  AC slow charging whereas 7 hours using 20kW AC slow charging to be fully charged.  A single charge of 10 minutes will increase the battery life by 197 kilometers.

Huawei a King of Smart Car Solution:

Huawei is continuously increasing its arsenal of smart car technologies and stepping more heavily in the field with its partners. Even though Huawei is yet to step foot into the global car market but still the company is making new deals with smart car makers and will make big growth among the customers.

Small steps surely become big ones with hard work and continuous efforts. Therefore, Huawei is also on the way to become a king of smart car solutions.
