Huawei Nova 5, Nova 5i Pro and Nova 5z users grabbing April 2021 security update

Huawei is about the launch the self-developed independent operating system, HarmonyOS 2.0 publically on June 2. At the moment, HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile developer beta testing is going and recently the company has announced the beta activity for Nova 6, Nova 7, and Nova 8 series smartphones.

The HarmonyOS 2.0 testing of the Nova device increases the excitement of the Nova 5 series smartphones and expecting to be a part of this program in the third batch. However, Huawei hasn’t confirmed HarmonyOS 2.0 eligibility for Nova 5 models.

In the meantime, Huawei has kicked off the security patch released in April 2021 for Nova 5, Nova 5i Pro, and Nova 5z for improved system security.

According to the information, this security patch fixes 17 high and 69 medium levels of CVEs and also resolves the 5 hidden privacy issues found in the last security improvements because they can harm the user’s data.

On the other hand, the Chinese tech giant has recently rolled out Petal apps for Huawei Nova 5T smartphones that brought Petal Search, Petal Maps, Reader, and Member center as well as installed Game Center and SkyTone services to the system.

This Petal apps update package will be further pushed for other Huawei devices, currently, it is in the early stage of the rollout.

EMUI Version:

Huawei Nova 5 and Nova 5z smartphones getting EMUI 10.1 version 10.1.0.102 updating from EMUI 10.1.0.101. On the other hand, Huawei Nova 5i Pro received EMUI 10.1.o.101 upgrading from EMUI 10.1.0.99.

2. Tap on System & updates
3. Tap Software update
4. Tap Check for Updates
5. Download and Install
6. Install
