On 11th September 2019, Huawei filed a patent application related to smart vehicle related, entitled “Automatic Vehicle Hierarchical Planning System and Method”.

The company published this patent on the 10th of August 2021 with the publication number CN113242958A in China. This patent provides a method to determines the vehicle orientation in operating space.

According to the description given by the Chinese Intellectual Property Database, this method revolves around collecting data from the estimated vehicle state and candidate target set. The procedure is mentioned below-

  • Concerning the estimated state of the smart car, the method generates a set of candidate target end states to track the vehicle orientation.
  • After that, it generates the most possible decision for the identical set of candidate target end states from the estimated state of the smart car.
  • Now, it calculates the propriety of the end state of each candidate target based on the data gathered from the estimated state of the smart car.
  • Likewise, it again calculates the propriety of the end state of the candidate target, from all possible decisions listed for the candidate orientation to finally conclude the behavior decision.

Huawei Patents:

In December 2021, Huawei patented a motion planning technology in the field of autonomous driving. This can provide a method and tool for motion planning for autonomous vehicles that help inflexible responding to dynamic obstacles.

The process includes the receive driving environment information including information on the location of dynamic obstacles. Then, input the state representation of the driving environment information into the trained reinforcement learning network model to obtain the time domain output predicted by the reinforcement learning network model.

The prediction time domain represents the length of time, or the number of steps, to predict the motion trajectory. dynamic barrier and use the prediction time domain for motion planning.
