Huawei P70 chipset, satellite network, Mate 70 stock, S2, Tri-Foldable and More: Weekly Recap

Here’s a weekly recap of Huawei P70 series chipset variation, satellite network capabilities for new flagships, Mate 70 series stock improvements, Pocket S2 foldable devices, and new updates on Tri-Foldable devices.

Huawei P70:

A new report about the Huawei P70 series reveals that the phone will come with different frequencies. This includes the standard with an adjusted and the high-end versions with unlocked chipset capabilities.

There are three variants confirmed for the lineup and all three of these are likely to offer satellite networking in one way or another. This may be demonstrated as satellite SMS or satellite calling in standard and Pro versions.

Foldable

Third-party CAD-based renders of the Huawei Pocket S2 vertical foldable phone have appeared online and show the difference in the color scheme including dark purple and Rococo White.

This new foldable is also expected to feature a satellite SMS feature to send and receive SMS via the Chinese Biedu satellite. It’s also revealed that Huawei may increase the durability of the Pocket S2 compared to its predecessor. New improvements in the camera section of Pocket S2 are also expected to come in the telephoto camera for better zooming capability.

Triple foldable phones continue to appear in the news as Samsung is also preparing to launch its Tri-foldable device in the second quarter of this year but the news is not official.

Compared to this, Huawei’s tri-foldable phone could sport a 10-inch screen with a tablet-like form factor. This device is rumored to be unveiled in the first half of the year but nothing is announced from Huawei.

Mate 70:

The boom in Huawei Mate 60 increased Huawei’s annual sales in China but the company found it difficult to maintain its production. This may not be the case with the Huawei Mate 70 series because it is reportedly talking with new suppliers to ensure sufficient production.

Imaging:

Two years ago, Huawei became the first company to part ways with its mobile imaging brand Leica and announced its XMAGE for flagship devices. Tipster DigitalChatStation said that the trend will be followed by other Chinese phone makers to bring in-house imaging technologies.

Sub-brand:

A new input suggests that Huawei has plans to launch a new sub-brand but there’s no chance of seeing this brand this year. The name of the brand is not yet confirmed either.

Android:

Google has announced the first developed beta activities for the Android 15, the next major Android release. Through the upcoming months, Android will see numerous rollouts under developer beta followed by public beta and then final release in the third or fourth quarter of 2024.

Honor:

Honor’s next flagship phone -The magic 7 series will further increase camera quality with a 1-inch image sensor with improved algorithms and AI enhancements.
