Huawei Pocket 2 foldable rumored to support satellite SMS capability
Huawei is preparing to launch the new vertical foldable phone – Pocket 2, which could feature powerful satellite SMS capability. The latest input shares some new details regarding the upcoming flip-flop device and its significant parameters.
According to the tipster @JinanDigital, the Huawei Pocket 2 will adopt the Beidou Satellite SMS feature. Unlike the Mate 60 series, it won’t support Tiantong satellite calls. Yet, consumers might be able to carry out certain emergency operations.
Eventually, the foldable device is likely to run on the Beidou Navigation Satellite System, which supports free SMS quota. It lets users send and receive SMS through a satellite connection, without requiring a cellular signal to operate the feature.
Perhaps, the Huawei Pocket 2 could be the first vertical folding phone to use satellite SMS technology. However, the company has not uttered any word on this matter. Therefore, we need to wait for the official unveiling to confirm this rumor.
Apart from the satellite SMS implication, the tipster highlighted some new specs which counts the IPX8 waterproof rating, 12GB RAM, 50W wireless charging, and Kirin 9000S 5G chip. Ahead, the device outlook consists of a plain leather rear panel and a customized Art version.
Satellite SMS Technology
Huawei Mate 50 Pro was the first to bring the Satellite SMS capability on the table. However, at that time, users were only able to access a one-way facility where they could send text to their urgent contacts.
Thereafter, the company upgraded this functionality with the P60 Pro and P60 Art handsets and enabled the two-way satellite SMS feature. We may find the same treatment for the approaching flip-flop model in the coming days.
Wireless Charging
Another interesting segment is 50W wireless charging. The ultimate function was missing from the previous-gen vertical folding handsets. Although the tech giant might bring it back on the surface with the Pocket 2 model.
