At Huawei Developer Conference 2020, Huawei announced the 2.0 version of its operating system, HarmonyOS. Last December, the company has started the developer beta testing of this OS for limited devices.

After 6 months of beta activity, Huawei launched the HarmonyOS 2.0 OS for smartphones devices on June 2 with a tag line “One as All, All as One”. The HarmonyOS covers five major scenarios including:

  • Smart home
  • Smart Office
  • Smart Travel
  • Sports
  • Health and audio-video entertainment

At the event, Huawei presents the distributed capabilities of the HarmonyOS system, which is mainly designed for the era of the Internet of Everything. But, at the moment, only home appliance manufacturing brands responded to adopt this system.

However, major Chinese smartphone makers have shown their interest in HarmonyOS 2.0 and give their personal opinions but in terms of adoption, they are still silent.

Moreover, Richard Yu, President of Huawei CBG announced that currently it has partnered with more than 1,000 hardware makers, 500,000 app developers, and more than 300 service providers to support HarmonyOS 2.0.

On these figures, the International Electronic Business Information has researched and collected the data through multiple sources and prepared the current list of HarmonyOS ecosystem partners.

Among them, Huawei officially announced 36 partners, and actively disclosed that listed companies are participating in HarmonyOS Ecosystem Cooperation. However, the company has currently 22 partners and 15 other affiliate partners. It means that there are overall 73 HarmonyOS ecosystem partners including Meizu.

Recently, Meizu has revealed some IoT devices including a smart oven and the air conditioner powered by HarmonyOS in the Chinese market.

Moreover, Huawei has divided its partners into two sections, HarmonyOS ecosystem product partners and HarmonyOS ecosystem solution partners. Under these sections, there are three standards: certification level, priority level, and strategic level.

If any company wants to be a Hauwei HarmonyOS ecosystem partner, they have to go through certain limitations for enterprise qualification review, partnership application, or other steps.
