April 2021 security update expanding for Huawei P40, P40 Pro, and P40 Pro Plus in Europe

At the latest HarmonyOS 2.0 event, Huawei has confirmed the 18 devices including the Huawei P40 series smartphones that are eligible to directly upgrade over the public beta version of HarmonyOS 2.0.

However, Huawei P40 lineup devices were the first to participate in HarmonyOS 2.0 developer beta testing from the initial stage. At the moment, HarmonyOS operating system rollout is limited to the Chinese market and soon expand for global users.

Parallelly, Huawei is also dispatching software updates for its devices. In this segment, the company released a bunch of new features along with a new security patch for Huawei P40 series smartphones on the home ground last week.

Now, the Chinese tech giant expanding the April 2021 security improvements for Huawei P40, P40 Pro, and P40 Pro+ users in Europe. It fixes several new bugs and vulnerabilities found in the latest software build and provides better system security.

Huawei P40 Pro

EMUI Version:

Huawei P40 smartphone starts receiving EMUI 11 version 11.0.0.184 with an update size of 308MB. On the other hand, the Huawei P40 Pro and P40 Pro+ device getting EMUI 11.0.0.186 with an update size of 304MB in Europe.

Security: Integrates the Android security patch released in April 2021.

April 2021 security patch details: This security update fixes different levels of exploits and issues including 17 high and 69 medium levels of CVEs for improved system security.

Key points for users before Update:

  • The device must have a better battery backup to install this update that is a minimum of 50%.
  • It’s compulsory to check your storage availability(Internal/External SDcard) to download the latest update as per the size required
  • A strong WiFi/mobile data connection is required for a buffer-free download of the package.

HOW TO CHECK FOR UPDATE:

To download this update manually, go to Settings then System & updates, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.

You can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.
