Huawei P40 Lite receiving December 2020 security update, no confirmation about EMUI 11

Last September, Huawei reveals its latest OS skin, EMUI 11, and simultaneously began the beta testing for flagship devices. As of now, the company almost completed the EMUI 11 evaluation program for eligible devices by sending a stable version in China. While global variants are underway to get stable soon.

Aside from this, there is a list of Huawei devices, which includes P40 Lite, Nova 7 SE, Nova 6 SE, and more. These are compatible to run on EMUI 11, but users are still in dilemma whether they will get EMUI 11 major upgrades or not. Regarding this matter, the company has not released any official confirmation yet.

Currently, the P40 Lite smartphone is working EMUI 10.1. Users are waiting for their turn to experience the new EMUI 11 features and they will be happier if the company made a confirmation announcement as soon as possible.

In the meantime, Huawei has started pushing a new software update for Huawei P40 Lite users. This update mainly installs the security improvements released in December 2020, which fixes different levels of exploits and issues that protect your device against threats.

New version:

  • Huawei P40 lite smartphone getting EMUI 10.1 build number 10.1.0.301 with update size of 166MB.

  1. Currently, this update rolling out in Europe.
  2. The update is rolling out in batches, so it may take some time/days to reach your device.
  3. The update will not erase any data.
  4. Keep enough storage on your device.

HOW TO UPDATE:

Download via Settings:

  • Open Settings
  • Click on the System/System & updates
  • Open Software update
  • Tap on Check for updates option
  • If an update is available, click on Download and install
  • After installation Reboot the device

Download via Support app:

  • Open the Support app on your device
  • Go to the Service tab
  • Click on the update button
  • Tap on Check for update option
  • If an update is available, click on Download and install
  • After installation Reboot the device
