Since the establishment of P series, Huawei has continued to focus on delivering new smartphone technologies including the camera system.

By searching through history, we can see that the Huawei P10 series introduced with dual-camera system, P20 Pro with triple camera and P30 Pro with quad-camera. All these smartphones have made their own impact on consumers.

And now, rumors are saying that we can expect the upcoming Huawei P40 Pro flagship to come with 5 rear cameras consisting of a 64MP SuperSensing camera assisted by an ultra wide-angle camera/Cine Camera, Long telephoto, Short telephoto, and ToF sensor.

We tried analyze this camera setup and came with the following analysis.

As the current camera champion –  Huawei Mate 30 Pro has the most advanced camera specs among the flagship smartphones, featuring Leica Quad camera with SuperSensing Cine Camera technology and helped the phone to top the DXOMARK. So, we would like to see if the Huawei P40 Pro uses the Mate 30 Pro camera setup with upgraded specs.

First introduced in Huawei P30 Pro, the Periscope camera empowers 5X optical zoom that can reach up to 50X digital but in terms of hardware, the camera module captures extra space and a replacement would allow the company to fit two different telephoto lenses.

Installing the Time of Flight or ToF sensor helps to output better portraits and Augmented Reality (AR) experience.

Similar to Huawei Nova 6, Huawei P40 Pro likely to equip with a selfie lens and an ultra-wide-angle camera embedded right into the dual punch-hole display.

The camera setup mentioned above seems quite a big hit but still, we have a long road ahead of the launching of Huawei P40 series and the round for rumors has just begun.

So, instead of jumping right into the conclusion, we’ll wait to see some stable leaks.
