The link device feature is an important achievement for WhatsApp. And soon, there may be more convenience coming to WhatsApp users, as Meta is testing a new link with a phone number feature.

According to Wabetainfo, WhatsApp is developing a new feature “Link with phone number”, which will allow you to link your account to WhatsApp without a QR code.

An image shared by the source shows that the new option will prompt while using the link device feature. Users can link a device using their primary account phone number and a one-time code generated by WhatsApp Web. To link a device to your WhatsApp account, you need to open WhatsApp Web on the desktop device you wish to link and select the new option.

You can enter the phone number along with your country code. In the following, you will see an 8-character code, which you can use to authorize WhatsApp.

It could help WhatsApp users in conditions when the camera can’t focus on the screen to read the QR code. Currently, the feature is only aimed toward WhatsApp web and opened for Beta testers.

This new capability will come into play for more users with its stable release. However, you can opt into the WhatsApp beta activity to get early access.
