Video Quality and Round Alert for WhatsApp Android under testing

Published

on

WhatsApp is testing new changes in design and features including the new video quality selection and round UI for alerts for Android smartphones.

The latest change is parts of the WhatsApp beta for Android version 2.23.14.10 and 2.23.14.12. Users are required to participate in the beta program to test these new additions. However, the public release may take some time, as these two new capabilities are still under development.

Video Quality:

WhatsApp is working on prompts to select video quality. For example, if you want to send a video, the app will show you the option to retain the original resolution or the new stripped resolution for faster uploads.

Wabetainfo reports when sending a photo using the high-quality option, a new tag indicating it as a high-quality photo is visible within the message bubble. In the past few weeks, some users also noticed the same tag being applied to videos. However, the process behind this automated tagging for videos remained unclear, and users had no control over this feature.

Round UI popup:

The next change is also important because WhatsApp is adopting a new material design scheme for the popup option selector. For instance, while choosing the app theme, you will see the round corners of the popup window. This is a more elegant touch to the appearance and provides a brand-new user experience.

WhatsApp is changing the shape of the icons as well as animations. Previously, WhatsApp enabled dark and light themes for the action bar and the bottom tab layout. These new changes are under development and all of the users will have to wait until WhatsApp release them in stable mode.
