Over 40 mainstream brands and 100 million devices will use HarmonyOS in 2021: Huawei

On December 30, at Huawei Developer Day and HarmonyOS 2.0 (Hongmeng OS 2.0) mobile application developers beta event in Shanghai, Huawei is holding a meeting with its industry partners to develop leading technology and understand the use cases of HarmonyOS as well as its mobile apps.

At the event, Yang Haisong, Vice president of Huawei’s Consumer Busines Software Department said, “Since the release of the HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile beta, a large number of developers have joined the HarmonyOS ecosystem. We’re looking to work with more developers and partners for a win-win scenario.”

According to the information, over 40 mainstream brands and 100 million consumer devices will enter into the HarmonyOS ecosystem in 2021 to experience its full-scenario capabilities.

Huawei also announced its partnership with 120+ home appliance maker companies and over 20 hardware manufacturers to build products based on the HarmonyOS software system in the coming year.

On December 16, 2020, Huawei released the HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile beta for the developers and industry partners. Simultaneously, the company also began the beta recruitment for Huawei P40, Mate 30, and MatePad Pro devices.

Initial hand-on reveals that the HarmonyOS 2.0 mobile beta user interface is very similar to the EMUI 11 but the core functionalities have been enhanced due to a different kernel. Therefore, the user experience has also been improved compared to Android.
