Huawei is rolling out a new feature-packed update for its new-gen smartwatches – Huawei Watch 3 and Watch 3 Pro in the global market. To be mentioned, the company has already released this software update for Chinese users bringing a hefty list of new additions.

Identified with the firmware version 2.0.0.179 (C00E179R1P179), the August 2021 update for the Watch 3 series comes with a 267MB package size. It improves the overall user experience of the HarmonyOS 2 software by adding a bunch of new functionalities and optimizations.

What’s New:

The firmware update includes new custom video watch faces, audio control panel, support for flip wrist mute call function, AI Life application, and many more to make users’ life easier and productive.

Moreover, the firmware also carries some feature optimizations in weather widgets, and the message notification function. You can check the complete list of new changes below.

  • Added support for DIY video watch faces.
  • Added support for rotating your wrist to mute incoming calls.
  • Added multiple preloaded watch faces to the watch’s super-long battery life mode.
  • Added support for time configuration for do not disturb mode to take effect.
  • Added super long battery life and WiFi buttons to the shortcut menu.

Optimizations

  • Weather widget optimized to speed up positioning and updating.
  • Optimized the message notifications feature to support ringtone notifications.

Update note:

  • Your Watch needs to be charged at least 20%.
  • Make sure to use a stable connection during the update.
  • Try again if the installation fails.

How to check for updates

  • Connect your watch to your smartphone using the Huawei Health app.
  • Open the App >> Tap on Devices >> Then choose Firmware update.
  • Now follow the on-screen instructions.
