Huawei tops 5G market ranking in Q1 of 2021, China has 70% of the total global 5G base station: Report

Recently, a well-known international research organization, Omdia released a data report on the mobile network infrastructure market entitled “Mobile Infrastructure Market Tracker” for the first quarter of 2021.

The report shows that the Chinese tech giant, Huawei leads the global 5G market in terms of shipment and revenue. Also, talking about the 5G network deployment, the Asia-Pacific region, is making rapid progress and also contributing to the sustainable development of the global 5G network.

In the overall global 5G market ranking, Huawei secured the first position, followed by Ericsson, Nokia, and ZTE. On the other hand, in terms of the 5G network shipment, Huawei still on first, ZTE on second, and Ericsson and Nokia on third and fourth respectively.

Looking at 5G network revenue, Huawei is in the first place, followed by Ericsson in second place, ZTE in third, and Nokia in fourth place.

To be mentioned, China has completed the deployment of 819,000 5G base stations accounted for 70% of the global 5G base station as of the first quarter of 2021. Additionally, China has also developed the world’s largest 5G independent network and becomes the leader in the field of networking technology.

According to statistics, from January 201 to April 2021, 5G mobile phone shipments in the Chinese market reached 91.267 million units, accounting for 72.7% of mobile phone shipments in the same period.

In addition, at the end of April 2021, the number of 5G mobile phone device connections in China has increased to 310 million with a net increase of 111 million over the end of 2020.

Apart from this, a few days ago, Eric Yu, the rotating chairman of Huawei revealed some facts about the company and said Huawei began the 5G research in 2009 when a 4G commercial network was also deployed in Norway and Sweden.

Moreover, it already started 6G research in 2017 that is two years ahead of 5G commercialization. The 6G networks will be introduced to the market around 2030.
