Huawei Nova 6, 7 and 8 with HarmonyOS receiving new beta update with latest features

Post recruitment, Huawei began rolling out the first HarmonyOS 2.0 closed beta software update for 28 devices from Mate 20, Nova 8, Nova 7, Nova 6, and more devices.

The first HarmonyOS 2.0 update changelog brought a new home screen, control panel, service center, HarmonyOS font, smoother sharing, smart home connection, better security, and more to provide a new user experience.

Now, the company has released a new HarmonyOS 2.0 closed beta software update for a bunch of devices that belong to the Nova brand and consist of Huawei Nova 8, Nova 7, and Nova 6 series.

According to the information, this new HarmonyOS closed beta build installs new improvements for the contact app, solves display issues, and optimizes the WiFi connection stability to optimize user experience in all scenarios.

Models that are receiving this new update:

  • Huawei Nova 8
  • Huawei Nova 8 Pro
  • Huawei Nova 7
  • Huawei Nova 7 Pro
  • Huawei Nova 6
  • Huawei Nova 6 5G

On the other hand, Huawei recently opened a second batch of HarmonyOS 2 public beta recruitment for the same models, and the above-mentioned HarmonyOS version will then be available for the newly public beta testers.

HarmonyOS 2.0 closed beta update details:

New Version:

  • This latest update comes with new HarmonyOS 2 version 2.0.0.128 upgrading from 2.0.0.116.

Changelog:

  • Connectivity: Optimizes the stability of WLAN connection
  • Contact App: Fix the problem that some features of the Contacts app are not working accurately
  • Display: Fix the issues of lock screen wallpaper

Update Notes:

  1. Users are compulsory to download and upgrade to the required EMUI version to receive the beta push.
  2. During the closed beta test, users are suggested to enable the user experience improvement plan (path: Settings-System and Update-User Experience Improvement Plan) to facilitate the developers to perform system and application analysis, fault diagnosis, etc., and continue to improve the version quality.
  3. This upgrade will not delete your data, but it is recommended that users take a backup of all of the important data to a PC or the cloud before the update process begins and confirm that the backup content is complete, otherwise it may cause a risk of data loss.
  4. Some third-party apps may not be compatible with HarmonyOS, the app may not work as usual after the update. It is recommended that you try to update the apps on the latest version from AppGallery.
  5. After the upgrade process is completed, the phone may heat up, get cold or perform slow charging. This is caused by the self-optimization and adaptation process performed by the system following the upgrade.
  6. Following the upgrade, rest assured that it will recover by itself after a period of time. It is recommended that you charge for more than 1 hour in your free time. During the charging period, the system will perform optimization to ensure that the mobile application is quickly adapted.
  7. After the update, the home screen may get unorganized, please adjust it manually.
  8. This update procedure requires to vacate at least 10GB of free space for the installation package, which will automatically be deleted after the successful installation.

Huawei Enjoy 20 Pro and Enjoy 20 Plus users in China are now eligible to upgrade with stable HarmonyOS 2.0. All the users of these two models, whether, the HarmonyOS beta tester or running EMUI 10.1 can directly upgrade to the latest software version.

On July 21, Huawei announced the third phase of stable HarmonyOS 2.0 rollout for 27 devices. However, it was an initial rollout, which is now expanding for more Huawei phones including these two Enjoy 20 models.

The HarmonyOS 2.0 comes with a complete design change over the previous EMUI software. It carries a bunch of features including the brand new home screen, service widgets, control panel, smart folder, and much more.

Both Huawei Enjoy 20 and 20 Plus come with a number of new features and 5G chipset to provide faster data access. There’s also a better camera system to capture high-quality images. Furthermore, these phones have a full view display to enjoy a mesmerizing viewing experience.

Certifications: The TEE OS security kernel has obtained the CC EAL5+ certification, indicating the highest security level for a global commercial operating system kernel. The HarmonyOS operating system has obtained CC EAL4+ security certification, China’s highest security certification.

Major HarmonyOS features update starts to rollout for Huawei flagships

Last month we reported that Huawei will send a new HarmonyOS 2 version for the consumers. Now, Huawei has finally started this major HarmonyOS 2 software update for flagship devices along with the latest features.

So without further ado, let’s dive into this update.

According to the changelog, the update brings a new multi-camera mode that allows users to capture images via different connected devices using shared network access such as WiFi. This feature uses the distributed capability of HarmonyOS to allow the execution of multi-device photo capture.

Second, comes the Control Panel, users can now quickly access the notification center by simply swiping left or right. This would ease the process and allow users to switch back and forth without losing any of these.

The Service Center also got a new file center feature, which can generate widgets and add them to the home screen, which makes it easier to view files on the go. Huawei optimized the app assistant feature with a new drop-down status bar in game mode.

To be mentioned the major HarmonyOS features update also improves system security to provide better protection against.

Major Update:

These features are surely amazing and will further extend the user experience of the consumers. However, this update is currently rolling out for the Huawei P40 series in China, which already received the stable version. Also, it’ll expand for more devices, as the rollout progress.

According to the information, this update for the Huawei P40 series is currently released with HarmonyOS 2 version – 2.0.0.166 and a download package size of 1.26GB.

On July 21, Huawei announced the third phase of stable HarmonyOS 2 rollout for a batch of 27 devices including Maimang 9 and Enjoy Z 5G. At that time, the rollout is early stage so it is taking to reach all eligible devices.
