On 8th October, Huawei has concluded the first commercially deployable long-distance E-band field test with Inner Mongolia and Ordos Mobile Branch in Hohhot, China. The results were quite satisfying recording a great increase for long-distance full coverage.

Generally, E-bands of 80 GHz high frequency with 20Gb/s bandwidth is one of the best 5G bearer solutions providing a large bandwidth at minimum delay. However, its high operating frequency and limited transmission distance show some room for widespread 5G application.

To tackle this problem, Huawei has implemented its exclusive high-power and large-aperture intelligent beam tracking (IBT) antennas in the long-distance E-band microwaves. As I mentioned before, the E-band’s maximum transmission distance and link increased by 10KM and 12-18dB respectively in comparison with one currently existing in the industry.

In addition, the solution adopts an integrated structure to eliminate complex power supply and low-reliability problems. Besides, it has enough capability to satisfy the large-scale commercial needs in the industry.

Huawei, Inner Mongolia Mobile, and Ordos Branch Co-operation:

All three enterprises have cooperated to installs a long-distance E-band microwave and deploy a 5G network delivering a faster and wider range. Furthermore, this Huawei technology integrated E-band microwave is successfully launched in Ordos city.

The site testing has completed after a month, which often confronted strong winds on-site due to the city’s weather. Moreover, the solution equips IBT antenna technology for a stable worked operation even in opposite conditions. Additionally, the efficiency won’t have any impact of the environmental conditions.

At last, Xu Cheng on behalf of Inner Mongolia Mobile stated, telecommunication operators, are trying every possible way to install 5G networks. However, the  E-band microwaves have better offerings concerning the existing scenarios in the city. He further commented Huawei provided great help with its long-distance E-band microwave with a significant increase in the 5G band transmission distance.
