Some netizens on Weibo shared their experience saying the Huawei Pura 70 series AI image editing tool is resulting in a nasty issue: the removal of clothes unintentionally.

When enabled, a quick swipe over an image’s part which is covered with clothes, allows the feature to remove it, revealing the entire part clearly but accidentally.

The Pura 70 series AI image editing tool became a hot topic after a few users tried to use the feature on the chest of a girl’s photo. However, the Chinese tech giant has not taken much time to recognize the cause of the issue and fix it at the earliest.

Huawei staff mentioned that the situation is nothing but a functional bug that the algorithm has optimized. To check the same, @UncleKanshan tested the feature again and found that the company fixed the specific vulnerability. As of now, trying this feature on certain snaps will prompt a message:

“The image elimination function cannot be used”

AI Photo Retouch feature’s main function is to remove passers-by and other unnecessary objects from the image, making the background of the picture clear.

Huawei’s response

In a recent interview, a senior Huawei engineer responded on this topic and said – this happened as the feature identified a small part of the collar. When using the AI Photo Retouch tool, the AI large model sets off the flesh-toned human body background and does not intentionally enlarge or reduce it.

In simple words, the ‘removal of clothes’ issue does not erase clothes from the body but is an AI-generated effect. Although the company has fixed it.
