Coolpad smartphone with UNISOC T610 chip test run HarmonyOS

The Chinese software industry is increasing interest in the HarmonyOS operating system and its open-source version, OpenHarmony is not far behind.

As a matter of fact, phone maker Coolpad recently tested the OpenHarmony operating system on the UNISOC T610 octa-core chipset platform. To be mentioned, the latest is conducted on a custom test smartphone with UNISOC T606 chipset platform and OpenSource version 3.2.2 release version.

It includes the user-level Mesa 3D library and the kernel-level driver – panfrost, while the GPU adaptation’s main focus is on the Render Service of the framework layer.

In terms of chipset, the UNISOC T606 has octa-core architecture including two A75 cores clocked at 1.65GHz and six A55 cores clocked at 1.6GHz. The chip uses a new generation of Mali G57 GPU and also supports UFS fast flash memory interface.

The result reveals that third-party Mesa 3D of OpenHarmony v3.2.2 doesn’t support the T606’s GPU and it needs to be ported from the upstream version to support the required Mesa 22.2.

Furthermore, the chip has LTE connectivity and is developed with a new imaging engine solution as well as high-quality display output resolution.

The Coolpad technical team came to the conclusion that OpenHarmony adaptation has some flaws in terms of compatibility but it is running well on the smartphone.
