Huawei Nova 12 series fetches stable HarmonyOS 4.2 update with new features

There is good news for Huawei Nova 12 series users living in China as the feature-rich stable HarmonyOS 4.2 update has reached their doormat. The update has arrived with loads of improvements and features over the last software build version.

Huawei Nova 12 series is getting the stable HarmonyOS 4.2 update with the 4.2.0.123 version. We suggest you keep at least 8GB of free storage space in your handset to download the massive changelog, especially if you are a first-time update user.

Being an official version, the latest firmware is rolling out to unlimited users but in batches. Hence you can either wait for your turn or slide into Settings > System & Updates > Software Updates > Check for Updates to install the build manually.

Speaking of the changelog part, those who have participated in the HarmonyOS 4.2 beta activity are getting a medium-sized changelog with a few improvements.

While those who will install the HarmonyOS 4.2 stable update directly to the device (baseline version 4.0.0.157/160) will fetch a huge changelog. Also, there is some difference between the number of features depending on the Nova 12 model.

• Added a geometry fun theme that personifies a triangular shape and combines it with a sports theme to transform into a tennis player. The tennis game begins when the lock screen interface recognizes the movement of users’ eyes, and hits the ball back and forth, bringing a realistic interaction.
• Introduced a new geometry party theme that lets you select distinct triangular shapes to create a group thus, begins the party by detecting the human eye gaze area or swipe gestures on the lock screen.
• Added a new geometric sticker theme which can pile up different triangular shapes or colorful stickers, creating a personalized theme. Moreover, users can interact with these stickers with the change of gaze angle on the lock screen.
• Added a new mood fun theme where you can choose from various cute expressions freely as well as combine them to form an enriched theme via several layout methods.

Huawei Nova 12 series smartphone users with the baseline build 4.0.0.157/160 will get the above-mentioned features (depending on their model) along with the following additions:

System:

• Optimize the global search experience and make the home screen pull-down feature smoother
• Improve the user experience in various scenarios such as application startup, task switching, sliding, interrupting animations, etc., giving you a smoother and smoother operating feel.
• Added a new WLAN network automatic connection tab, which can individually control whether to auto-connect to previously connected WLAN networks.
