TMSC 4nm process will enter the trial production by Q3, 3nm in 2H 2022: Digitimes
One of the largest semiconductor service providers- TMSC (Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company) is well known for its semiconductor production capabilities. Following the successful drive of the 5nm process, the company has been working on its next 4nm process, or N4 node, which will come with more advanced specs on board.
Now, according to the latest news coming from DigiTimes, the next 4nm process technology of TMSC will soon enter the trial/risk production phase in the third quarter of 2021 while the mass production has been set for the coming year.
Meanwhile, the 3nm microchips are also listed for production somewhere in the second half of 2022. Whereas the 2nm chips are still under processing and will soon complete the development stage.
As the source revealed, the company has accelerated its productivity and its equipment is also showing overall enhancement. The company has maintained its lead in EUV (extreme ultraviolet) lithography technology and constantly working on new ideas.
Adding to this, TSMC is also planning to put the more advanced version of 5nm – 4nm in risk production in the third quarter of 2021. And, the development of N3 technology is moving as outlined, the mass production is planned for the second half of 2022.
