Huawei has just announced its latest Mate 30 series including 5G variants that costs over $1000. In addition to this new unveiling, the company has announced that the next year will bring a set of cheap 5G smartphones.

After the Mate 30 series press conference, CEO of Huawei’s Consumer Business Group, Richard Yu told journalists that 5G phones will be coming in 2020, reported Androidauthority.

“5G will definitely hit mid-range and even low price range definitely from next year (sic),” told Yu. “This year (our) premium segmentation is 5G, next year we will go to middle tier 5G smartphones, and later on, the low tier.”

For the 5G versions Mate 30 lineup, Huawei has used the new Kirin 990 processor with embedded 5G modem and we’ll also see it in the upcoming Honor V30 smartphone.

Back in May, the president of Huawei’s 5G product division said, a thousand yuan phone could be launched by the end of 2020 and if delays then it’ll happen in 2021.

A previous report also reveals that the Chinese tech giant may use 5G chips from MediaTek for low-end devices. However, there’s no official information available on this matter.
