Huawei already has its 5G chipset Balong 5000 used on Mate X and Mate 20 X 5G flagships. And a new report says the company has started its preparation of launching low-end 5G smartphones powered by MediaTek chips.

Huawei officially confirmed its appearance for IFA 2019, Kirin 990, 5G and more

MediaTek, a Taiwanese semiconductor company, in talks with Huawei to supply low-end 5G chips for its smartphones in 2020, reported Gizchina.

From this perspective, we can say that the 5G chips ordered from MediTek will be used in Huawei’s low-end 5G devices in place of using Balong chips with more investment. Although, there’s no official confirmation available on this matter.

Earlier this year, Huawei said that the company is increasing its movement in the 5G world rapidly and the first thousand yuan ($140) 5G phone will be listed only in one year possibly by 2020 or the year after.
