During the ongoing US restriction game, Huawei is taking its own safety measure and planning to shift its research center from the US to Canada, says Ren Zhengfei, founder and CEO of Huawei.

In an interview with Canada’s Globe and Mail, Ren told Huawei’s center for research and development will be moved out fo the United States and will be relocated to Canada. Additionally. the company will also manufacture some mobile network equipment outside of China, reported Reuters.

Ren also showed his will to build new facilities in Europe to produce 5G network gear directly in the region, to stop all fears spread by the US of being produced in China and then used to break in the national security.

According to the related information, Huawei has spent $510 million on the operations of this research facility in the US and due to the US restriction, Huawei has trimmed the workforce by 600 to about 250 in total.

Following the Entity-List, the US is continuously asking Canada to not let Huawei participate in the 5G development otherwise it’ll no longer access to US intelligence.

Currently, the decision on Huawei’s 5G participation is postponed until after the Federal election in the country.
