Huawei Nova 6 and 6 5G users grabbing new software update with security improvements

In 2019, Huawei debuted the Nova 6 series with pre-installed EMUI 10.1 based on Android 10 and capable to upgrade EMUI 11. This lineup comes in three models Nova 6, 6 5G, and 6 SE. These smartphones lie under the mid-range segment, which is capable to impress any consumer with their specs.

Later in September 2020, Huawei revealed its latest OS skin, EMUI 11, and started recruiting Nova 6 and 6 5G models for the EMUI 11 beta testing program in the second batch. After months of beta activity, in November 2020, Huawei successfully delivered the stable EMUI 11 builds for Nova 6 and 6 5G users. New EMUI 11 offers more enhanced features such as artistic AOD (always on display), multi-window mode and screen collaboration, AI subtitles, new video editing features, and much more.

For further improvements, Huawei is releasing a new software update for Nova 6 and 6 5G users. This update brings the January 2021 security patch along with the built version 11.0.0169, which enhances the security of the system.

EMUI VERSION:

  • Huawei Nova 6 and 6 5G smartphone users getting EMUI 11 version 11.0.0.169 upgraded from 11.0.0.168.

CHANGELOG:

Security: Integrates Android security patches released in January 2021 for improved system security.

January 2021 Security Patch Details: Installs security fixes for different levels of exploits and issues within Huawei phones including 4 critical, 1 medium, and 25 high levels of CVEs.

REMEMBER:

  1. The update is rolling out in batches, so it may take some time/days to reach your device.
  2. The update will not erase any data.
  3. Keep enough storage on your device.

HOW TO CHECK FOR NEW UPDATE:

To download this update manually, go to Settings then System & updates, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop-up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.

You can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.
