Huawei has begun to recruit the HarmonyOS 2 fifth batch internal beta for Huawei Enjoy 10, Enjoy 10 Plus, 9X, 9X Pro, and other Honor devices. The beta program also includes devices such as Honor 10 and V10.
According to the official information, the fifth batch of HarmonyOS 2 beta recruitment will last until August 16. There are a total of 2000 people allowed to sign for the testing process.
Below you can check the devices in detail along with their model and required EMUI version. However, one thing to note is that this recruitment is related to the Chinese variants of the mentioned devices.

Following the registration process, Huawei will select 2000 testers that will receive the HarmonyOS 2 beta OTA update. This will allow users to test the latest features and user interface for the corresponding models ahead of the stable release.
HarmonyOS 2 fifth batch beta recruitment notes:
- Make sure that the mobile phone has more than 10GB of free internal storage, to reduce upgrade failure. (Check storage space via Settings> Storage).
- Be sure that your mobile phone is not ROOT.
- Match the required version with your current software version to become eligible to participate in this beta activity.
HarmonyOS 50 million Upgrade:
According to the latest information, HarmonyOS 2 installation has now exceeded 50 million users in China, which is a new milestone for this operating system. The new 10 million downloads have been achieved in only 10 days, since the 40 million users were registered on July 29.
It’s also confirmed that the number will grow even further once the HarmonyOS 2 upgrade will reach to more devices outside of the Chinese territory.
The HarmonyOS 2.0 brings a whole new operating system and features for users, which will surely provide a better user experience as compared to Android-based OS. Also, it is a complete replacement for the existing EMUI system.
First HarmonyOS smart car cockpit will launch by the end of this year, check user interface
During the HDC 2021, Huawei has released the latest development made in the HarmonyOS ecosystem. The tech maker has announced 150 million device upgrades and the current speed of partners that continues to increase. Moreover, the company also launched the first developer preview of the HarmonyOS 3, which will help the developer to understand this new HarmonyOS version before it becomes available for developer beta testing.
However, there’s one more interesting announcement that has been made at the event. Richard Yu, CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group and smart car solutions BU revealed that the first HarmonyOS powered smart car cockpit will launch by the end of this year.
The Huawei business chief also expected that at the end of this year or early next year, the new generation of luxury mid-size SUVs released by SERES will be equipped with a smart cockpit based on HarmonyOS. Huawei hopes that through the HarmonyOS system, the user experience of the smart cockpit will surpass that of other manufacturers around the world.
Furthermore, Huawei has also revealed the user interface for the in-car HarmonyOS system that will launch by the end of this year on a SERES car. The user interface is very immersive and functional.
Wang Jun, president of Huawei Smart Car Solutions BU, confirmed that the HarmonyOS-A smart cockpit operating system is currently the only open cockpit system and will begin to sell by the end of this year.
That’s not it, Huawei also showed us some data regarding the current moves that HarmonyOS has made in the smart car industry after the announcement of HarmonyOS 2.0 at HDC 2020. Based on the HarmonyOS in-car system, Huawei has developed in-depth cooperation with more than 80 hardware and software partners.
Efforts to change the current situation of cockpit system hardware solidification, fewer applications, and slow upgrades, and jointly define hardware interfaces to achieve plug-and-play hardware, replaceable upgrades and diversified hardware interconnections, and open to applications through API interfaces.
Huawei says it’s focusing to develop a cockpit system with full-scenario coverage and multi-device coordination to provide consumers with personalized, smart, and diversified service experiences that is nowhere to find.
HarmonyOS programming language is coming: Huawei
Deng Taihua, vice president of Huawei and president of the computing product line, said in an interview in September this year that Huawei will launch an HarmonyOS programming language Cangjie next year to connect HarmonyOS and Euler in the application development ecosystem.
Huawei previously stated that Euler and Hongmeng have connected the sharing of core technology. In the future, it plans to build a distributed soft bus capability in Euler, so that devices equipped with the Euler operating system can automatically identify and connect to HarmonyOS devices.
Additionally, Huawei’s Managing Director, CEO of Consumer Business, and CEO of Smart Car Solutions BU, Yu Chengdong, announced that the number of HarmonyOS devices exceeds 150 million, making it the fastest-growing terminal operating system in history.
Huawei HarmonyOS 3 developer preview launched, improved performance
During the Huawei Developer Conference 2021, Huawei announced the first HarmonyOS 3 developer preview. The Chinese tech giant announced this new HarmonyOS version as an upgrade over HarmonyOS 2. So, developers in China are eligible to test the HarmonyOS 3 via the HarmonyOS 3 developer beta version and start developing apps for the latest HarmonyOS version.
To be mentioned, the HarmonyOS 3.0 developer beta will be opened in the first quarter of 2022. So, it can be tested on different devices. Still, the launch of general consumers of smartphones and other devices is far away, since it’s still in the development mode.

According to the information, the HarmonyOS 3 developer preview includes performance improvements over HarmonyOS 2.0. these are 50 percent improvements in terms of Device discovery performance, 100 percent improvement in terms of HD projection stability, and 20 percent improvement in terms of enhanced cross-device operation performance.
