Although, Huawei has not mentioned HarmonyOS in the agenda but it’s likely that Huawei may announce its operating system at the event to meet the launch date announced by the CEO of Huawei Consumer Busines Group, Richard Yu AKA Yu Chengdong.
Furthermore, Huawei may reveal the upgrade roadmap for the existing Huawei devices that are eligible for an upgrade.
Huawei HarmonyOS Upgrade Plan: Devices and Rollout Time [List]
The story of HarmonyOS smartphone testing began on December 16, 2020. At this date, Huawei announced HarmonyOS 2.0 Developer beta testing for a number of old flagships. Initially, HarmonyOS become available in the testing range of Huawei developers and industry partners. The HarmonyOS 2.0 developer beta testing slots for models from Huawei P40, Mate 30, and MatePad Pro series devices.
Post recruitment, Huawei selected and processed the developer beta applications and sent the first HarmonyOS 2.0 developer beta OTA update to select testers.
Since beta testing is a staged process, Huawei conducted and released several betas builds to developers. After three months of internal beta flight, in April, the company expanded HarmonyOS beta testing for more devices such as Mate 40 series, Mate X2, and others, labeled under HarmonyOS 2.0 developer open beta.
In the following month, mid-range smartphones – Huawei Nova 6, Nova 7, and Nova 8 lineups also joined the second phase beta activity in the second round of the Developer Open beta.
After 6 months of trials and developer testing, Huawei finally made up its mind of sending HarmonyOS on the consumer version of smartphones and it began on June 2.
On June 2, Huawei officially launched HarmonyOS for smartphone devices, a brand new operating system and a successor of EMUI software system, which was based on Android.

120 million HarmonyOS celebration but no global release date yet
Huawei HarmonyOS comes with various distributed features that are designed to provide a seamless interconnected user experience. Therefore, every Huawei smartphone user across the globe wants to install this new operating system including the latest features.
Still, HarmonyOS remains exclusive to the Chinese consumers, which is a bit disappointing to the global consumers who are eagerly waiting to get their hands on this mobile software. In the meantime, Huawei continues to ramp up the HarmonyOS upgrades in smartphones and the numbers are increasing sharply.
On September 13, during an office product launch event, Yu Chengdong announced that HarmonyOS has crossed 100 million upgrades in China but the celebration was global. Yes, the success must be shared with every bit of the Huawei consumers but the fans also want to know when it’ll come for the global market.
Nice, but why isn't it available for global users yet?
I know that wou will awnser with a generic "please wait", but we are waiting for over 3 months now and nobody seems to have any information about anything related to the global HarmonyOS release or even the launch of EMUI 12.
— o_o (@GoEfqSUej3fgBKP) September 13, 2021
Within the next 15 days, He Gang, President of Huawei Consumer Business Product Line, announced 120 million HarmonyOS upgrades in smartphones and smart devices. This is a huge step and a milestone from Huawei that is very hard to achieve by any mobile software maker but the Chinese tech giant did it with the help of its consumers.
No Global Rollout:
There could be many factors that have caused the delay of HarmonyOS global arrival. On the other hand, we seemingly believe that the Chinese software maker is now working to resolve the ongoing issues to put HarmonyOS in global users’ hands.
We definitely want Huawei to touch new heights with HarmonyOS but the question of global consumers is also valid and reasonable. Therefore, their queries must be satisfied and fulfilled as soon as possible.
Huawei updated HarmonyOS JavaUI Framework content
Huawei has an important JavaUI framework in the development of HarmonyOS that developers need to adopt to build apps for this operating system. Moving on, based on the feedback from developers and improvement suggestions, the JavaUI framework content of the Huawei HarmonyOS official website document has been updated, which is mainly reflected in the new development guide and development instructions.
1. New component development guide
In this update, a new development guide for PopupDialog and CommonDialog components has been added.
PopupDialog is a bubble dialog box that pops up on the current interface, which can be displayed by referring to components or screens. Developers can create a bubble dialog box through the PopupDialog construction method and use common methods such as setArrowOffset, setArrowSize, and setBackColor to set the size, background, and arrow style of the bubble dialog box. In addition, you can also use setCustomComponent to make some custom settings.
For a detailed PopupDialog component development guide, please visit the official website:
CommonDialog is a dialog box in which the user cannot manipulate the contents of other interfaces before the pop-up box disappears. It is usually used to display information or operations that the user currently needs or the user must pay attention to.
