Yesterday, Huawei Consumer Business and Smart Car Solutions CEO, Yu Chengdong said that the company will hold a new launch conference on September 12. His remarks came during the new AITO Wenjie M7 SUV pre-sale announcement event in China.

Yu Chengdong said that August 25 counts as the pre-sale day for the AITO M7 smart car. It will release on September 12 in Shanghai. For the past two years, Huawei has been unveiling collaborative cars along with consumer devices.

Collaborative cars are the ones that include Huawei’s smart car solutions. The company started its journey for the smart car business with Chinese car maker SERES, and established car brand – AITO.

Last year, Huawei unveiled the pure electric version of AITO Wenjie M5 with HarmonyOS 3 smart cockpit. This unveiling happened on the same stage as the Huawei Mate 50 series. Therefore, we can expect that the company will introduce this new version of the M7 SUV on September 12 at the Huawei Mate 60 launch event.

Past rumors also suggest that the company is keen on organizing the Mate 60 series event on September 12, which could be true. However, only the warm-up promotion could confirm our speculation but there isn’t any at the moment.

Meanwhile, there’s some information that we can explore.

Huawei Mate 60 series is reportedly adopting a new display design, which could be similar to the upcoming iPhone series. Specifically, it would remove the wide notch from Mate 50 Pro and change it with a pill-shaped cutout. This is where it will compete against the iPhone 15 series, which also has a pill-shaped dynamic island notch.

What’s more interesting is that Huawei has worked on its mobile software – HarmonyOS 4 to provide support for this new design change in the upcoming flagship.

Moreover, the Huawei Mate 60 series could feature a new satellite communication technology, which may be different than last year. For now, we depend on Huawei CEO, Yu Chengdgong to excite us about the launch event for the new Huawei Mate 60 series on September 12.
