How to sign up for HarmonyOS 4 beta [Step by Step]

On August 4th, Huawei launched HarmonyOS 4 operating system and announced a beta test, users can sign up and download it right away. Here we’ll share with you a way to enter the HarmonyOS 4 beta with a simple procedure.

Before we begin, Huawei only announced this beta for Chinese devices and the entire list of eligible models can be found here. HarmonyOS 4 public beta devices can fetch the firmware right away. The closed beta participants will have to wait for the application to be approved by the company.

Let’s dive into the instructions to sign up for the HarmonyOS 4 beta.

Open the “My Huawei” app or download it from AppGallery (if it’s installed already).

Navigate to the top services section and tap on the “Update” icon from the tray. The app will lead to the beta screen and then tap on the “Early adopters version” button.

Accept the terms and conditions checkbox, then tap on the registration button at the bottom. Once registered, the app will prompt a confirmation message and then you will have to tap on the button, which will open the software update settings.

The system will fetch the latest public or closed beta HarmonyOS 4 software package for your registered device. You can press “DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL” to download this update, followed by on-screen instructions.

Important Notes:

Before you download this update, please make a backup of essential files or photographs to cloud or offline storage. This is a test build and may delete any of your data. Hence, it’s suggested to back up your essential files.

The update package needs at least 8GB of storage on your smartphone, which will be deleted once the software is installed. Before and after downloading the HarmonyOS 4, you can download new app versions from AppGallery to reduce compatibility issues.
