Honor 9X series

The Honor 9X series smartphones were launched both in China and the global market and quite famous among consumers. However, the Honor 9X and 9X Pro in the global market have a completely different story as both of these were launched on different dates.

Compared to the standard version, the Honor 9X Pro comes with EMUI 9.1 and Honor didn’t even upgrade this device up until now. However, the phone continues to receive new security updates, as recently the company starts rollout the May 2021 security update for Honor 9X Pro global variant.

Moreover, Honor 9X smartphones on the home ground have already installed this security patch last month. The security update fixes different levels of exploits and issues to protect the phone against threats.

HarmonyOS 2.0 eligible:

Right after the launch of Huawei HarmonyOS 2.0 launch, Huawei has flowed a HarmonyOS upgrade rollout plan for 100+ Huawei and Honor devices limited to the Chinese market.

According to this official roadmap, Honor 9X and 9X Pro smartphone owners are able to get their hands on new HM OS in the first half of 2022. But, it was expected that the company will deliver HarmonyOS upgrades early as scheduled.

Talking about global variants, Huawei will surely expand the HarmonyOS 2.0 beta program and upgrades for the models, which are getting HM OS update in China. But, we should wait for HarmonyOS 2 official roadmap for global devices, for more confirmation. Until then, stay tuned!
