HarmonyOS public beta testing started for Honor 9X

Huawei has started to send the latest HarmonyOS 2.0 beta update for Honor 9X series smartphones in China. This update didn’t bring any security patch instead of users are getting system optimizations and a bug fix with this for the HarmonyOS software system.

As per the changelog, Honor 9X and 9X Pro users grabbing HarmonyOS version 2.0.0.195 along with an update package size of about 206 MB in China. However, there is no hope in sight for the global models yet.

However, the smartphone maker hasn’t forgotten to send regular security patches for the modes in both markets. For now, let’s take a look at the details of the new update starting with the models that are eligible to receive this new rollout.

  • Honor 9X HLK-AL00a
  • Honor 9X PRO HLK-AL10

Changelog: 

  • Display: Optimize the display effect in some widgets in the control panel
  • System: Optimize the system stability of some scenes
  • Bug Fixes: Fix the problem that the screenshots of some scenes are displayed abnormally

Update Version: This update will shift the latest smartphone version 2.0.0.185 to the latest 2.0.0.195 update version.

Honor 9x HarmonyOS beta

 

Availability:

At present, this update is only rolling out for the first batch of users who had previously registered for the beta activity. As per the info, about 2000 users are getting this update first, which will gradually expand for other users after a while.

Furthermore, there are two ways to download this new update first from smartphone settings and second from the My Huawei app after signing up for the beta activity. Following successful application approval, you’ll need to download the update via the instructions given below.

Now you have to open Software Updates and then click on the Check for Updates. Afterward, you’ll see the latest update if it’s available for your device. Click on Download and Install and once the process is complete, restart the device for better optimizations.

As always, this new update won’t delete any important data but an advance backup is recommended. Furthermore, users have to also make sure enough battery and storage during the update to prevent any failure. In addition, use a strong internet connection and don’t disturb the update process.

HarmonyOS comes with lots of new features including the latest App Guard, system security. This new addition allows you to safeguard your smartphone from unknown security threats from any apps that could harm your smartphone.

According to the information, apps on AppGallery are verified as safe, having passed rigorous security checks. Once the App Guard is enabled, the system will recommend that you download apps through Huawei AppGallery, whenever is possible, to protect your device and data from risky apps.

If you have this app enabled, you’ll get a warning regarding the app that you are proceeding to install.

How to enable HarmonyOS App Guard:

AppGuard is enabled by default but you can check it up from the system settings.

If the app is available in Huawei AppGallery, follow the onscreen instructions to install it via Huawei AppGallery or touch Install anyway to proceed to install it from the current source.

If the app is not available in AppGallery, you are not advised to install it. If you trust the app, you can follow the onscreen instructions to touch Install anyway and enter your password to complete the installation. If the system detects that the app involves uncontrollable risks, you will not be allowed to install the app.

Three flagship Huawei smartphones have started to install the latest HarmonyOS 2.0.0.209 update that contains a big changelog. Together with a huge update size, the update has brought a long list of new features and optimization that also can be found for many other devices of the company.
