February 2021 security improvement released for Huawei Nova 5 Pro smartphone

Huawei Nova 5 Pro was initially launched with EMUI 9.1 and afterward received EMUI 10 and EMUI 10.1 major updates. This is not the end, this device is compatible to work on the latest EMUI build, EMUI 11.

In November 2020, the company started enrolling the Nova 5 Pro smartphone for EMUI 11 beta testing program and further released the first and second beta builds for registered users to test the new OS features ahead of stable rollout.

After months of testing, last month, a stable EMUI 11 update rolled out for Nova 5 Pro beta tester as well as users EMUI 10.1. The major update brings a bunch of new features, improvements, and optimizations that improve the user’s experience.

Aside from this, Huawei has now started sending a firmware update for Nova 5 Pro smartphones. This update mainly installs the security patch released in February 2021, which fixes different levels of exploits and issues that enhance system security.

Updated version: Huawei Nova 5 Pro smartphone receiving EMUI 11 version 11.0.0.137/138 upgraded from 11.0.0.135/136

UPDATE INSTRUCTION:

To download this update manually, go to Settings then System & updates, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop-up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.

Alternatively, you can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.

February 2021 Security Patch Details: Installs security fixes for different levels of exploits and issues within Huawei phones including 2 critical, 77 medium, and 26 high levels of CVEs.

NOTE:

  1. The update is rolling out in batches so it may take some time/days to reach your device.
  2. The update will not erase any data.
