With EMUI 10, Huawei introduced the colorful Always On Display (AOD), which is yet to roll out for older smartphones, allowing the user to set different colors instead of black and white AOD widgets.

But with EMUI 10.1, Huawei has brought a brand new Micro-Stereoscopic AOD. This new upgrade to the colorful AOD, makes the screen display look more vibrant and three dimensional.

The work behind this new 3D AOD, based on three layers – foreground, widgets, and background, this whole mechanism makes AOD appears in 3D.

Currently, only Huawei P40 series supports the 3D AOD feature but we can expect Huawei to roll it out for devices with OLED displays including Huawei Mate 30 series and P30 series with an EMUI update.
