Breaking: Honor 20 and V20 devices started receiving Magic UI 4.0/EMUI 11

Alongside EMUI 11, Huawei also revealed the Magic UI 4 OS skin for its former subsidiary brand, Honor. Following the launch, Honor began recruiting its eligible under the Magic UI 4.0 beta program.

The first batch of testing includes the flagship Honor 30 and V30 series. Moving on, the Honor 20, 20 Pro, and V20 devices were recruited in the second round of the Magic UI 4 beta program. After delivery of two beta builds, stable Magic UI 4 rolled out for tester as well as Magic UI 3.1 users in China.

In this line, the company also entered the global market and started registering devices for the latest Magic UI 4 test ahead of a stable release. As per previous information, Honor 20, 20 Pro, and V20 models were scheduled to get the official Magic UI 4 in the first quarter of 2021.

Now, the wait of these device users is going to end because Honor has started releasing the Magic UI 4 major upgrades for global variants. However, stable rollout currently is in its early stage so it may take some time to reach your device.

The Magic UI 4 features a new smart always-on display (AOD) with artistic themes, multi-screen collaboration, super notepad, subtle effect, rhythmic ringtones, undisturbed screen protection, and more. [Full changelog below]

Stable Magic UI 4 Version:

Honor 20, 20 Pro, and V20 smartphone users grabbing stable Magic UI 4 version 11.0.0.138 and package size of over 1.84GB.

  • Artistic Theme: Adds the Starry Night theme, featuring vivid color painting. (You can apply this theme in the Themes app.)
  • Multiwindow mode: Multi-Window allows you to open apps in a floating window for multitasking. You can relocate the floating window to the desired location or minimize it to a floating bubble for easier access later.
  • Smoother animation: The brand new, intuitive animations throughout EMUI 11 create a smoother, more unified, and visually pleasing user experience when touching items or sliding on the screen. Long take animations will be displayed when you are switching between albums in Gallery or between year and month views in Calendar, for smoother visual effects.
  • Subtle effect: Whether you’re toggling switches on or off, subtle effects have been enhanced throughout the OS for greater visual satisfaction.
  • Super Notepad: Notepad now supports editing notes simultaneously from multiple Huawei devices. For example, you can insert a photo from your phone to the note being edited on your tablet.
  • Lasting smoothness: A new standard for system animations has been introduced, improving app launch speed and the smoothness of general operations.
  • Rhythmic ringtones: System vibration has been upgraded, and incoming calls and alarms now have their own custom vibration patterns. The combination of stereo sounds and coordinated vibrations bring you a more immersive experience.
  • Multi-screen Collaboration: This is a special feature that enables your devices to work together to achieve their full potential. You can mirror your phone to your laptop’s screen to improve your productivity with up to three windows readily available. (This feature requires a Huawei laptop installed with version 11.0 or later of PC manager.)
  • Gallery: On the discover tab in Gallery, you can create video stories by applying preset templates with special effects and background music. The video editing features are optimized providing you with more instructions on how to use the timeline and edit options.
  • Undisturbed screen protection: When you project your phone in Do Not Disturb mode onto your Huawei laptop, messages and incoming calls are displayed only on your phone screen, both protecting your privacy and ensuring the continuity of screen projection.
  • NotePad Privacy: This allows you to lock notes in NotePad.
  • Photo sharing privacy: This allows you to remove the shooting location, time, and device information from photos before sharing them.

New Huawei Smart Selection AI camera enters in public testing, launching soon

According to the latest information, Huawei‘s new Smart Selection AI camera has been spotted on the company’s official online platform – Huawei VMall. The company starts the public testing of this new model on 15th July 2021.

This Smart AI camera price at 249 Yuan (about 38 USD) but it’s available at just 229 Yuan (about 35 USD) during the test. Furthermore, participate in the public test activity to stand a chance to win spin the lucky draw.

By participating in the public test, the winner can get the Huawei Cloud Service Season Card worths 25 Yuan and enjoy the video streaming. However, this benefit can only avail after the first sale of the AI camera, which will start on 25th July 2021.

Honor 20 smartphone on Magic UI 4 getting May 2021 security improvements

The May 2021 security update is releasing for the Honor 20 smartphone in the Indian market. On the other hand, some of the Honor 20 users reported that they’ve not yet received the Magic UI 4 upgrade.

To be mentioned, After the separation of Huawei and Honor, the previously launched devices are now under the support of Huawei.

The quad-camera-equipped Honor 20 phone was launched in 2019 with a 6.26-inch display, Kirin 980 processor, EMUI 9.0, 48MP rear quad camera system, 32MP front camera, and more. However, this smartphone is currently working on Magic UI 4.

According to the information, Huawei has pushed a new Magic UI 4 version 11.0.0.161 (C675E3R1P4) for Honor 20 Indian users with an update size of 188MB. However, we can expect that the same software update has been expanding to global users.

Is Honor 20 is eligible for HarmonyOS 2?

At the moment, HarmonyOS 2.0 beta testing is going in for Huawei and Honor Chinese variants. In the first batch of HarmonyOS 2.0 beta testing for Honor devices, there were 12 devices including Honor 20 and 20 Pro.

Recently, these smartphones received the first HarmonyOS 2 closed beta update that brings a whole new operating system and user interface to provide the next level user experience.

Since the Honor 20 series is eligible for HarmonyOS 2.0 in-home ground so, the same fate is also decided for the global variants. It is expected that soon or later these smartphones will get the hands-on new OS but we’ll have to wait for an official confirmation.

Honor 9A getting new applications and security patch with the latest software rollout

Huawei devices are receiving new security patches that bring the latest security improvement as well as required changes in the system settings to improve the overall user experience.

Honor 9A is one of the devices that was launched, while Honor was still under Huawei’s leadership. Therefore, it has been received new security patches and software improvements till now.

In the recent edition, Honor 9A begins to receive a new OTA update that installs a number of new apps and April month’s security. It’s the first time when we’ve noted such rollout for an Honor phone but more phone users might have been getting the same treatment.
