Knuckle Gesture update rolling out Huawei MatePad Pro and MatePad Pro 5G

In 2019, Huawei added two new models in the existing MatePad series, Huawei MatePad Pro and MatePad Pro 5G. These models were initially launched with EMUI 10.1 and compatible to run EMUI 11 OS skin.

Since September 2020, Huawei began the recruitment of MatePad Pro and MatePad Pro 5G along with the P40 and Mate 30 series. These devices are the first who had become part of the EMUI 11 beta testing program and install the stable build in China as well as the global market. Read more

New EMUI 11 brings improved UI changes and exciting features namely smart multi-window, smoother animation, super notepad, system translation, and much more.

Now, Huawei released a new software update for MatePad Pro smartphones. This update brings a knuckle gesture feature along with January 2021 security patch for improved system security.

Knuckle Gestures is one of the cool features that have the ability to take screenshots quickly, screen recording, enter-split screen mode, double-tap to wake the screen with your knuckles.

Security: Integrates Android security patches released in January 2021 for improved system security.

Knuckle Gestures: Double-click with a single-finger joint can quickly take a screenshot, Double-click with a two-finger joint can start the screen recording.

POINTS TO KNOW:

  1. The update is rolling out in batches, so it may take some time/days to reach your device.
  2. The update will not erase any data.

Update Instruction:

To download this update manually, go to Settings then System & updates, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop-up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.

Alternatively, you can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.
