Huawei and African Union strengthens cooperation in 5G, AI, IoT and more

Huawei and the African Union (AU) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote the development of AU in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

This agreement aims to establish a closer partnership and information exchange between two sides that have agreed on the development of 5G, Artificial Intelligence (AI), broadband, Internet of Things (IoT), Cloud Computing and more.

The MoU covers ICT project management and delivery in support of African continental ICT development, including cybersecurity, e-health, e-education, and other related applications.

Thomas Quartey, the deputy chairperson of the AU Commission and Philippe Wang, Huawei’s vice-president for northern Africa has signed a three-year agreement followed by an MOU signed in February 2015.

Both sides are also working to support new local talents and to increase employment opportunities by providing them ICT knowledge and skills.
