Taiwan’s well-known chipmaker MediaTek said on Friday that it had applied for U.S. government license to continue supplying its chipsets to Huawei following the new U.S. restrictions, says a report.

Last week, The U.S. government extended restrictions on the supply of chipsets made with U.S. technology to Huawei. Interested companies required special U.S. licenses to do business with Huawei.

According to Reuters, Media said it will follow related global trade regulations and has applied for permission to ship to Huawei after Sept. 15.

“MediaTek reiterates its respect for following relevant orders and rules on global trade, and has already applied for permission with the U.S. side in accordance with the rules,” said MediaTek

Following the curbs on TSMC, Huawei begins getting a new chipset for its mid-range devices from MediaTek including MediaTek Dimensity 5G chipset.
