Over 300 open source components now added to HarmonyOS

Today, Huawei has made an official announcement to launch more than 300+ HarmonyOS open source components. Previous information suggests that the Chinese tech giant added 400+ opened source components earlier.

Now, the developers can easily download the HarmonyOS open-source code and related components from openHarmony open-source and HarmonyOS application package management platforms respectively.

According to the information, these new open source components belongs to 8 categories including:

  1. Tools
  2. Network
  3. File data
  4. UI
  5. Framework
  6. Animation graphics
  7. Audio
  8. Video games

HarmonyOS Open Source:

Back in 2019, Huawei officially announced that its fully self-developed operating system, HarmonyOS will be open source for the developer. In this context, Yu Chengdong, CEO of Huawei CBG said Harmony OS open source will help to build its ecosystem faster, and more people can contribute to its development.

At HDC 2020, Huawei also stated that it would donate OpenHarmony the open-source project of the HarmonyOS operating system to the OpenAtom Foundation.

Furthermore, Huawei with 6 other units including PATEO, JD.com, Runhe, Yikatong, Software Institute of Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Chinasoft International launched the OpenHarmony in December 2020.
