There is a new report that the Huawei optical fingerprint scanner module supplier has increased price by 15-20% but related suppliers have actually denied such a raise.

The top distributers of optical fingerprint module manufacturers that supply for Huawei Mate 60 series answered that they’ve received no notice of a price increase. There may be some increase in price for related goods but there’s an impact on wide availability, according to the supply chain sources.

Past information shows that suppliers of the under-screen optical fingerprint scanner module of the Huawei Mate 60 series have increased the price by 15-20%. Some modules even witnessed a price jump of 30%.

The core component that constitutes the under-screen optical fingerprint module is the chipset. Based on public and supply chain insights, Goodix Technology, GigaDevice (Siliwei), and Weir Technology (Jihao Technology) are the main sources of under-screen fingerprint chips for Huawei’s M60 series.

It’s also expected that Huawei will continuously stock new components for upcoming devices. It also indicated that Huawei is gathering an optical fingerprint scanner for next year’s P series flagship. However, Huawei has not published any statement on this matter so far.
