Huawei Mate 60 series is doing robust sales and it seems like Huawei is already on the move to collect components for the Huawei P70 series, especially the optical fingerprint scanner.

Industry supply chain sources revealed that suppliers of the under-screen optical fingerprint scanner module of the Huawei Mate 60 series have increased the price by 15-20%, while some modules see a price hike of 30%.

The core component that constitutes the under-screen optical fingerprint module is the under-screen optical fingerprint chip. Based on public and supply chain insights, Goodix Technology, GigaDevice (Siliwei), and Weir Technology (Jihao Technology) are the main suppliers of under-screen fingerprint chips for Huawei’s M60 series.

It’s also revealed that Huawei is collecting the supplies of optical fingerprint scanners for next year’s P70 series. This is a good indication that Huawei already wants to fill in the supply chain for this upcoming flagship device to ensure proper unit distribution.

Throughout the past month, Huawei made strong sales and keeps on increasing orders of important components via its supply chain partners. This led to a shortage of these key parts in the market and slow production.

However, next year Huawei is planning to ship at least 60-70 million smartphones and Huawei P70 could play a major role in achieving this aim.
