November 2020 security update released for Honor Play 4 and 20S

Honor is sending the new software update for Honor Play 4, and 20S smartphone users. This update comes with improvements for system security and installs the November 2020 security patch that fixes different levels of exploits and issues.

Aside from this, Honor is also recruiting its devices for the Magic UI 4 beta testing program. However, Honor X10, Play 4, and 20S are eligible devices for Magic UI 3.1, but users are still waiting for their turn to test the Magic UI 4 features.

The Magic UI 4 features bring more artistic interface design, friendlier interactions, more innovative and convenient cross-device connection experience for people to perform better at work and in life.

Models receiving update:

  • Honor Play 4
  • Honor 20S

New Version:

  • Honor Play 4 getting Magic UI 3.1 version 3.1.1.197 upgraded from 3.1.1.196
  • Honor 20S getting Magic UI 3.1 version 10.1.0.98 upgraded from 10.1.0.96

Security: Integrates Android security patches released in November 2020 for improved system security.

November 2020 Security Patch Details: November 2020 security update install security fixes for different levels of exploits and issues within Honor phones including 3 critical and 15 high levels of CVEs.

HOW TO UPDATE:

To download this update manually, go to Settings then System & updates, then open Software update, from here select Check for updates. If an update is available it’ll pop-up on your phone and an option of Download and install will appear. Press the option and start to download.

Alternatively, you can also request software updates through the Support app. To do this, open the Support app, go to the Service tab on the bottom bar, tap on the update, then select Check for updates and then download and install.

Note:

  • Currently, this update is released for Chinese users.
  • The update is rolling out in batches so it may take some time/days to reach your device.
  • The update will not erase any data
