Huawei P40 Series: 5G – Powered by Kirin 990

As a flagship, the Huawei P40 series powered by the flagship chipset – Kirin 990 5G. And delivers integrated NSA/SA dual-mode 5G connectivity for the entire P40 lineup including P40, P40 Pro, and P40 Pro+.

The Kirin 990 5G is built with 7nm FinFET Plus EUV technology combined with a new and powerful Neural Processing Unit (NPU) for the next level of Artificial Intelligence performance.

The CPU of Kirin 990 5G embeds two big Cortex-A76 based cores at 2.86Ghz + two middle Cortex-A76 cores at 2.36Ghz + four small A55 cores at 1.95Ghz. The performance of the Kirin 990 5G increased by over 23% and CPU energy efficiency increased by 23%.

To deliver the next-gen gaming performance, the Kirin 990 5G has Mali-G76 MC16 architecture elevates the performance by 39% while optimizing GPU energy efficiency by 32%.

Kirin 990 also has a new DaVinci NPU architecture including 2 Big Ascend Lite Cores + 1 Tiny-Core. Delivering NPU performance up to 460% more as well as 290% NPU power efficiency.

This flagship Kirin chipset comes with a Balong 5G modem embedded directly on the SoC, supporting 5G/4G/3G/2G networks and providing the fastest downlink at 2.3-gigabits per second (Gbps) and 1.25Gbps upload.

The latest ISP is enhanced by 15%. Coupled with BM3D11 hardware-level noise reduction, it is capable of producing vivid photos of natural views, city architectures, and stunning night shots. Real-time video segmenting and rendering requires a powerful and stable video processing capability.
