Sources familiar with the supply chain reveal that Huawei’s HiSilicon could have launched an improved version of the Kirin chip with a 4nm process. The process is based on TSMC’s 5nm process improvement and is designed to be compatible with Huawei flagship.
The previous report reveals that Huawei’s semiconductor brand HiSilicon is facing some issues and is currently unable to produce new chips. However, Huawei has to keep the HiSilicon team at all costs.
HiSilicon team has more than 7,000 people and still developing high-end chips and will be able to cope with it in the next two to three years. In addition, it was also reported that the HiSilicon is still designing and developing 3nm chips but there’s no confirmation about the progress made to the entire project.
