Huawei Maimang 9 is receiving November 2021 security update

Huawei is sending the November 2021 HarmonyOS security update for Maimang 9, the China-exclusive smartphone. This update enhances the system security and defends the smartphone from common vulnerabilities and exposures.
According to the information, the November 2021 update for Huawei Maimang 9 series comes with an upgraded HarmonyOS version 2.0.0.212 from version 2.0.0.210. Apart from the security patch, the company has not rolled out any other optimizations for this smartphone.

STEPS TO UPDATE YOUR DEVICE:
To manually download this update via mobile Settings– open Settings > click on the System & updates > open Software update > tap on Check for updates option > (if an update is available) click on Download and install > after installation, restart the device.
Alternatively, you can download it via My Huawei App – open My Huawei app on your device > click on the update button> tap on Check for update option> (if an update is available) click on Download and install > after installation reboot the device.

Launched in 2020, Huawei Maimang 9 is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 800 processor that comes with a 6.80-inch display with a resolution of 1080×2400 pixels. It offers 6GB of RAM, 128GB of internal storage, 4300mAh non-removable battery that supports fast charging.
The Huawei Maimang 9 initially packed with EMUI 10.1 is based on Android 10. It has a 64MP rear camera system on the rear side consisting of a 64MP primary camera with an f/1.89 aperture; an 8-megapixel camera with an f/2.2 aperture, and a 2-megapixel camera with an f/2.4 aperture. While on front side, it sports a 16-megapixel camera on the front for selfies.

Aside from the new technological advancements, the Huawei P60 series will bring powerful camera capabilities to take amazing photographs on the go. However, a better hardware experience is connected to the software. That’s why, users can take benefit from HarmonyOS 3.1 in various ways.

Open source HarmonyOS now has 100 million lines of code

OpenAtom Foundation has recently announced the 2022 OpenHarmony Annual Operation Report. It reveals the that opens source HarmonyOS has achieved around 100 million lines of code.
According to the information, OpenHarmony has made new contracts with a total of 51 companies. While over 5100 co-builders submitted codes to be merged by Open Source HarmonyOS.
This marks a total of nearly 100 million lines of code built for the open-source HarmonyOS. Last year, 45 manufacturers launched 100+ open-source HarmonyOS products.
As of December 2022, the number of OpenHarmony project groups increased to 29. It includes over 50 top technical coders and 10+ university clubs.

Last month, Yu Chengdong, Executive Director and CEO of Huawei Consumer Business Group said that he is expecting big progress in the OpenHarmony open-source software.
Yu then revealed that OpenHarmony has become the fastest-growing operating system. There are currently more than 110 commercial devices and more than 100 models running this software.
OpenHarmony is already applied in various fields such as education, finance, transportation, and mining, and has built an information infrastructure base for thousands of industries.
Following HarmonyOS operating system launch in 2019, Huawei announced to open-source its OS. At HDC 2020, Huawei launched open-source HarmonyOS as OpenHarmony and donated the entire code to OpenAtom Foundation.
OpenAtom Foundation is the first foundation for open-source software in China. It was established in June 2020 and initiated jointly by many of the big tech giants.

HarmonyOS 3 public beta adds 7 new Huawei devices [List]

Yesterday, Huawei opened the gates of HarmonyOS 3 public beta for 9 Honor devices new devices, and today, the Chinese tech maker added 7 of the native smartphones and tablets on the same upgrade process.
Huawei has opened HarmonyOS 3 public beta for 7 prominent old and mid-range devices including Huawei Nova 8 SE, Huawei Nova 7 SE 5G, Enjoy 50, and MatePad 10.4. These along with other models are eligible to participate in the new HarmonyOS 3 beta phase.
According to the information, HarmonyOS 3 public beta will allow all of the users with the HarmonyOS 2 operating system to gain HarmonyOS 3 features ahead of a stable release. Interstingly, public beta allows unlimited slots, which makes it different from a closed testing environment.
Also, public beta indicates that the software testing has been completed and it’s in the final stage of the official software rollout.

Last month, Huawei opened HarmonyOS 3 and closed beta recruitment for these models and within a month, Huawei progressed to the next phase.
HarmonyOS 3 has various new features and one of them is the new stack widgets. This functionality lets you stack all of the widgets into one place and helps you to clean the entire home screen. You can destack the entire widgets whenever you may fancy. There are many new capabilities to explore in HarmonyOS 3 that improve the user experience.

Huawei has confirmed that eligible HarmonyOS 3 public beta device users can signup for the testing application starting March 22. However, the registration process could only complete via the My Huawei app.
