Recently, Huawei announced the commercial launch of its AI technology for the industry. The Chinese tech maker made initial AI tech partnerships and expansion of strategic alliances with two local firms.

According to the information, Huawei launched the first commercial use of its artificial intelligence (AI) large language model (LLM) Pangu for the mining industry.

Huawei has supplied its AI technologies to state-owned Shandong Energy Group Co. Ltd. and its unit Yunding Technology Co. Ltd. The Pangu Mine Model has been deployed in the coal giant’s mines in East China’s Shandong province. This partnership was also announced as the world’s first commercial large AI model for the energy sector.

Huawei and its coal mining partners are developing AI technologies for industrial production. It covers coal mining, excavation, main transportation, auxiliary transportation, lifting, safety supervision, anti-washing, washing, and cooking, and 21 scenarios in 9 majors.

Use case:

These mining firms use AI large-scale model visual recognition capabilities to intelligently analyze the construction quality of pressure-relief drilling. And assist the anti-scouring department to carry out normative verification of anti-scouring and pressure-relieving projects.

It not only reduces the workload of manual review by 82% but also cuts the construction supervision process of anti-scouring. These improvements are made possible by the pressure relief that originally took 3 days to 10 minutes, achieving a 100% acceptance rate of anti-scouring projects.

In terms of the advantages, Zhang Pingan, Executive Director of Huawei said that Huawei has always been rooted in various industries. Also, the Pangu model can be combined with the pain points of all walks of life.

Zou Zhilei, Senior Vice President of Huawei and Chairman of the Coal Mine Corps addressed a press conference. He said that the combination of artificial intelligence and the industry requires the cooperation of the entire industry chain upstream and downstream of the industry. Therefore, the industry needs to form industry standards for large-scale mine models as soon as possible.

The commercial launch of Huawei AI technology and large language model is just a beginning and there are more partnerships to come in the near future.
