After the 2021 Qualcomm Technology and Cooperation Summit, Zhao Ming, CEO of Honor smartphones said a few things regarding the concerns of the old Honor smartphones and what will happen to them after Honor’s separation from Huawei.

He said that Honor will cooperate with Huawei in terms of providing software support for old Honor smartphone users, including product patches, upgrades, software maintenance, and hardware maintenance.

This explains that Honor will continue to provide software support as well as launching new phones under existing smartphone lineups under independent management.

It’s with mentioning that, Honor’s account and cloud services will be operated and shifted to Honor’s new independent servers. Zhao believes that Honor will choose a more suitable third-party company to cooperate with in the future, which can provide compatibility with various agreements and plans that are suitable for Honor.

These third-party companies also include the Huawei HiLink agreement, Huawei Cloud, etc as well other third-party suppliers of services.

He was also asked about the current condition of Honor’s share in the global smartphone market, said that Honor will no longer limit itself. The previous report suggests that Honor’s smartphone share has been hit after the partition with Huawei and gradually reduce to the lowest in recent months.

On the question of using HarmonyOS, Zhao replied that Honor is free to use any operating system for its smartphones but Android is still our first choice. However, he also mentioned that with the future development of HarmonyOS, it’s still in our box of choices.
