On May 17, at Huawei China Ecological Conference, Huawei’s rotating chairman and current active chairman Xu Zhijun (Eric Xu) gave a keynote speech about the company’s current ambitions and challenges.

Xu said that Huawei will focus on upgrading the six digital technology ecosystems including:

  • Kungpeng
  • Shengteng
  • Huawei Mobile Services
  • HarmonyOS
  • Huawei Cloud
  • MDC (Intelligent Driving Computing Platform)

Let’s check what Eric said about these technologies:

KunPeng:

The Kunpeng Ecosystem empowered partners with 10 major capabilities and supports the upgrade of the capabilities of the complete machine partners. Establish a survival of the fittest mechanism to eliminate poor quality and poor service.

Shengteng:

The ecosystem development of the Shengteng is in line with expectations, and MinSpore has become the mainstream AI framework in China.

He revealed that at the time, Huawei was also controversial whether to do MindSpore by itself.

On one side, Chinese needs its own AI computing framework, and on the other, MindSpore works closely with Shengteng’s AI processor to better utilize AI computing power.

Huawei Mobile Services (HMS):

Xu said Huawei Mobile services will have to be the third part of the Google and Apple Ecosystem world.

HarmonyOS:

Eric said HarmonyOS is different from Android. The project was initiated to create a distributed operating system that faces the future and can work in all scenarios of technologies. The goal of HarmonyOS is to open up the consumer and industrial internet.

He said this year Huawei aims to install HarmonyOS in over 300 million devices, of which, 200 million will be of Huawei and over 100 million will be from industry partners.

Cloud:

For Cloud, Eric said that Huawei Cloud has reached the position of number 2 in China. Huawei has released the Wotu Cloud Innovation Plan, which will support partners with USD 100 million in 2021.

MDC:

According to Eric, the MDC ecosystem enables autonomous driving to enter every vehicle, which is currently influential in the field of smart car technology or related product.

Most of Deng Li's smartphones are from the Huawei ecosystem and his first Huawei phone was Ascend Mate 2 (4G). As a tech enthusiast, he keeps exploring new technologies and inspects them closely. Apart from the technology world, he takes care of his garden.
