Huawei P20 Series

Global users of the Huawei P20 and Mate 10 series still waiting for EMUI 10.0. Meanwhile, Huawei has announced the roadmap of EMUI 10.1 and this new version of EMUI may not be available to these device owners.

Huawei has currently confirmed EMUI 10.1 for 36 devices that have qualified for this latest upgrade. However, there’s no mention of older flagships including Huawei P20, P20 Pro, Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro and Mate 10 RS.

And, we’re here to discuss why both of these devices may not receive EMUI 10.1.

Launched in 2017, Huawei Mate 10, Mate 10 Pro, Mate 10 Porsche Design launched pre-installed with EMUI 8.0 and received upgrades to EMUI 8.1, EMUI 9.0, EMUI 9.1 and currently EMUI 10 (ongoing). Total of 4 major OS updates.

The Huawei P20 and P20 Pro launched in early 2018, equipped with EMUI 8.1 and updated to EMUI 9.0, EMUI 9.1 and EMUI 10 (ongoing). Total of 3 major OS updates.

After the release of any new smartphone, the smartphone maker provides 3-4 major OS updates to the respective smartphone. On the other hand, the company also fixes a timeline (in years) for security patches, which comes in monthly and quarterly cycles.

We’re certain that Huawei Mate 10 series is done with its updates cycle but we’ll wait to see if Huawei P20 and P20 Pro still have any chance to get the EMUI 10.1 and will keep you posted on this matter.
