HarmonyOS NEXT home screen UI

HarmonyOS NEXT beta version will arrive in June this year and while it has some time to approach general users, a new home screen leak shows the HarmonyOS NEXT UI (user interface). The overall segments seem quite improved and fresh to the eyes.

A Weibo tipster @Flanker_017 has recently posted some home screen images, revealing the UI sections of the HarmonyOS NEXT. The pictures belong to the standard Huawei Mate 60 smartphone as well as highlight the entire user interface.

Developer Preview 2:

The first screenshot reveals that the Mate 60 handset is running on the HarmonyOS NEXT developer preview 2 version. Perhaps the tech giant would have added some more enhancements and bug fixes to the device with the new software build.

Although the firmware changelog details are currently missing and the company has not announced the HarmonyOS NEXT developer preview 2 version yet. Hence we need to wait for some official details on this subject to confirm the changelog.

UI – Home Screen

The second image shows the HarmonyOS NEXT-based home screen with a clean and minimalistic look. It has better and bigger widgets, medium-sized app icons, and a refreshed design. Icons and widgets have rounded square shapes with brighter colors.

No Android Apps!

It is worth noting that there are no Android apps in the software system and the home screen only highlights the HarmonyOS native app. This reflects that HarmonyOS NEXT will eliminate Android applications and remain independent throughout.

Further input reveals that some local apps like WeChat and Notes app that contain large amounts of data could require special processing to get pre-install in the HarmonyOS NEXT operating system. Or else, it might affect the user experience on being re-extract from the official Huawei Cloud facility.

During the HarmonyOS NEXT developer preview launch, the CEO of the Huawei Consumer Business Group – Yu Chengdong mentioned that the new HarmonyOS NEXT is a true OS, which is ultimately smoother and faster than its previous versions.
