HarmonyOS 4.2 public beta second batch

Huawei has opened the HarmonyOS 4.2 public beta software update for the second batch of devices. The list counts P50 handsets, the Nova 12 series, and a few flagship foldable smartphones. Let’s check if your Huawei phone falls into this category.

Note that this rollout is a follow-up to the initial HarmonyOS 4.2 public beta upgrade for the first batch consisting of the P60 and Mate 60 series. As of now, the company is bringing the latest software upgrade offering for other eligible smartphones as well.

Being a public activity, both old and new testers can participate in the new HarmonyOS 4.2 OS testing, if having a compatible HarmonyOS-powered device.

Since it is a beta firmware, you might experience certain flaws after the installation. For instance, overheating, performance glitches, freezing, and power consumption. Moreover, devices that landed on the surface with pre-installed HarmonyOS 4.0 don’t have the chance to roll back. Hence proceed at your own risk.

The new software from Huawei accompanies a lot of significant features like a new WLAN network automatic connection tool. It also has a useful Bluetooth device recording switch that can auto-connect to headphones when recording from a distance.

Other features include a new in-app ‘Shake’ feature that prevents mis-touch on the device. Users will also find device-cloud cooperation and an anti-false alarm to identify the risky and malicious applications in the software system.
